[Mims the Mime]

Desperately in need of sound

The animation and artwork were pretty good, while the story, though not fully original, was satisfying. However, this movie definately needs some sound. If not for sound effects, at least add some music (perhaps even try to syncronize it with the animation at certain points).

Depending on the sound, this would deserve a rather higher grade, even though it is still a good movie... nice way of capturing the characters' emotions, by the way. My vote of 6 stands provided you will add some sound... then again if the sound is really good it might give you a 7.

Good but for a few problems

The animation was very good and the humor was much appreciated. However, I have had a few problems with the movie:

1. There was no sound. Was this indeed the case or was it a problem of my machine? If it was intentional, you should seriously consider putting some sound on the movie.

2. The replay button leads to the middle of the movie instead of the start. Not a big flaw in my opinion, but it shouldn't take more than a few seconds to fix it, so you could do it.

3. Rather than a flaw, this would be a stylistic thing, but a few scenes seemed a little too fast-paced. Even though I liked the fact that the movie was quick and thus did not bore, some scenes could have been a little less rushed.

I rated this with a 7 despite the problems. However, I would really hope to see this re-submitted with sound. Keep up the good work, I enjoyed your style very much ;)

1. It seems the entire Newgrounds community would agree with you. I didn't want to slap on crappy sounds (pun intended?) and I don't have much experience in sounds design.

2.I'll need to fix that. I'll update that seeing as how its a non sound related problem.

3.I was afraid it would be too fast but it beats the alternative and I felt slowing down the animation looked too slow. I very well could add more pauses but that's something I'll keep in mind for future animations.

4. Thanks for taking the time for a good critique. Its always refreshing to see someone who isn't just praising or bashing without any explanation.

I hope I can find someone who likes to do do sound because sound is something I'd like to think about.

Excellent!

It was excellent in all aspects: animation, characters, concept, everything! Even the sound effects you picked for the various events were absolutely fantasic.

Just one minor mistake: when the boy first approaches the flowers, it shades them. But then, when all three look at it, they are not shaded. It's not much of a mistake, but the criticism would not be constructive if I didn't mention anything ;)

Very impressive

The concept managed to capture me, so I salute you on your excellent work. I agree with other reviewers suggesting that the animation did not do much justice to your otherwise superior drawing skills, so it might be a good idea to work on this.

In case you read this... could you tell me why he abandoned the teddy bear? I must admit I was hoping for them to reunite till the end and was rather sad when it didn't happen :(

[FAUX - Chapter 1]

Excellent graphic novel

Very well written and directed. The atmosphere was also amazing, I could watch this for hours.

Only 2 small details cost you the last 1 out of 10: The first is the blood splat on the shadow of the window, which was unrealistic (I think you can find brushes for these things on the web... because it is indeed hard to do them realistic by hand in flash). The second was that, in the final scene, when the girl walks away, the upper part of her head is "cut" (when she is close and still talking to the guy, this is because the frame does not fit her size, but as she walks away the rest of her head should appear...).

These two are minor mistakes, of course, but get the viewer's attention and do not let focus on the atmosphere of the movie. If these are fixed, the movie is a clear 10. Congratulations.

I don't understand why you say you are not happy with the entertainment, story, etc., etc. The way I saw the movie, it was about atmosphere, not about being excellent in one of the fields you mention. As I watched it, it travelled me to another world, and I believe this to be enough for a short animation clip.

Choice of characters was good, choice of music was good, it had no uneccessary violence, it had an optimistic ending, and above all, you kept the minimal at that level; minimal is minimal, nothing more, nothing less.

Yes, please do work in that line and give us another. It is something missing from short animations of the kind.

Very good

It was really good - it actually made me smile! I liked the jazzy music a lot, and I don't see where the sounds seems "a bit of" as you put it. Worked fine by me, and it added well to the minimalistic concept of the movie. Animation was also good, with the main character full of colorful expressions. A little bit of work on a longer movie might give wonderful results, even though this one already left me satisfied ;)

Funny, though...

It reminded me of the song "Suicide" by The Tiger Lillies. Same theme and the same happy-go-lucky atmosphere. I don't know if I get the message correctly (if there was one), but it was still an interesting combination of contradictory elements. And of course, as noted by others, it was very nicely drawn. Good job!

You got me completely by surprise. I was expecting the usual version, and as time passed so did my curiosity for the weird part. Then just before it ends... BOOM! hahaha... however, I don't think that the people who don't know the original version will get that one...

Well...

Unfortunately, most of the times I could not understand what the robot said (well, I am not a native speaker but still I have some confidence in my fluency in english ).

It still made me sad, though. Very well-made atmosphere and concept. If sad movies are not your preference, as you say, then I really wonder how good your othr movies are... well done!
